Welcome to Superior Physical Therapy
Superior Physical Therapy is a Mendota Heights-based clinic built around one core idea: you deserve a thorough evaluation, a clear diagnosis, and a treatment plan built around your goals — not a template. Located inside The Heights Racquet & Social Club at 1415 Mendota Heights Rd, we see a mix of general orthopedic patients, active adults, and competitive athletes who want more out of their rehab than a standard clinic can offer.
Why People Choose Superior PT
Superior Physical Therapy isn’t a high-volume rehab clinic. It’s a specialized practice built around one-on-one care, clinical expertise, and a focus on getting you back to the activities you love.
- Board Certified Sports Clinical Specialist (SCS)
Fewer than 2% of physical therapists in Minnesota hold this distinction. Keely earned it in 2008 and has built Superior PT around the level of clinical reasoning and results this training demands.
- Advanced dry needling expertise
With over a decade of experience, dry needling isn’t an add-on — it’s a core part of how we help patients reduce pain and accelerate healing when appropriate.
- One-on-one, personalized care
Every session is focused, individualized, and designed specifically for you. Your plan of care is built and overseen by Keely, ensuring consistency and a high standard of treatment throughout your experience.
What We Offer
Who Comes to Superior Physical Therapy
Superior Physical Therapy works with a wide range of patients, but most share one thing in common: they’re looking for answers and real results, not just a list of exercises.
Many clients come in with back pain, neck pain, shoulder injuries, post-surgical needs, or chronic conditions that haven’t improved elsewhere. Others are athletes, from competitive high school and college players to active adults and professional athletes, looking for sport-specific rehab and performance guidance.
Superior PT has also developed a niche working with pickleball athletes from across the Twin Cities, including advanced and professional players seeking a higher level of performance training and injury prevention in our Elite Pickleball Training program.
If you’ve tried other approaches and haven’t gotten the outcome you were looking for, this is a different kind of conversation.
Meet Keely Behning, PT, SCS, ATC
Keely Behning founded Superior Physical Therapy in 2024 after more than two decades in outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine settings. She holds a Master's in Physical Therapy, completed a Sports Medicine Residency with Minnesota Sports Medicine, and became board-certified as a Sports Clinical Specialist in 2008 — a credential held by fewer than 2% of physical therapists in Minnesota. She is also a Certified Athletic Trainer with an Undergraduate degree in exercise physiology.
Keely founded Superior Physical Therapy to create the kind of practice she believes patients deserve — one where evaluations aren’t rushed, and care decisions are made collaboratively between the patient and client, not dictated by insurance timelines.

Frequently Asked Questions
No — Minnesota allows direct access to physical therapy, which means you can book with us without a physician referral. If your insurance requires one, we can help you navigate that process.
Your first visit is a full 60-minute evaluation. We’ll review your history, assess your movement and function, and explain exactly what’s being found and why. Treatment starts right away, often using hands-on techniques, so you leave with both a clear plan and meaningful progress — not just a generic list of exercises.
Superior Physical Therapy is an out-of-network provider. Many patients choose to use HSA/FSA funds or submit claims to their insurance based on their out-of-network benefits. Coverage and reimbursement vary by plan. Contact us before your first visit and we can help you understand your options.
Dry needling uses thin monofilament needles to release trigger points and tight muscle tissue. Most patients feel a brief twitch or ache during the treatment, but report significant relief afterward. Keely has over 10 years of experience with the technique and integrates it carefully into a broader treatment plan.
Every session is one-on-one and built around a higher standard of care developed by Keely, a board-certified Sports Clinical Specialist with over 20 years of experience. Your care is individualized, consistent, and never treated like a high-volume clinic visit. This is a more focused, results-driven approach to physical therapy.
